Saturday, July 12th was spent in the Eastern Townships bicycling part of the La Route Verte which is, at 5400 km:

… the longest network of cycling trails in North America, crisscrossing some of Québec’s most scenic regions and connecting the province to neighbouring bikeways in Ontario, New Brunswick and the United States.

Ciderie Milton

Tonight we overnighted in Milton in the parking lot of the Ciderie Milton near Granby where we were treated to a gorgeous sunset over the orchards:

Artria Cultural Loop

On Saturday we biked Granby to Waterloo and Back on the Artria Cultural Loop, which is:

The flagship loop of the RÉSEAU VÉLO YAMASKA, Artria offers a unique cultural route known as the “open-air museum.” Indeed, about sixty giant works of art are scattered along the circuit to surprise you throughout your journey.

We admired many of the pieces of interesting art along the way:

Being an old railroad, complete with old signals:

it was very flat:

Even with e-bikes, when you maintain 29 kph (see the video), it takes exertion and you need to cool down every now and then:

On the north side, there is a observation tower that offers great views over the Réservoir Choinière:

That’s it for The Eastern Townships

Had we had more time, we would have:

  1. Biked more of La Route Verte
  2. Visited the Capelton Copper Mine Museum
  3. Visited some formageries and farmers markets
  4. Did the Giant Zip Line at Mont Sutton
  5. Hiked the Park de la Gorge de Coaticook trails, including the Foresta Lumina at night.
  6. Overnighted at a winery

Next, we are off to Quebec City.

In case you had missed it, we came from Sorel-Tracy.

When we are travelling, our current location is always available and updated every 10 minutes.
