Labrador West - 600 km - 1 day
On the evening of July 26th, more than a month after we left Toronto, we finally arrived in Newfoundland! The first two days were spent in the western part of Labrador visiting Labrador City and Churchill Falls.
Labrador City
The Welcome Centre in Labrador City, with its half dozen free water taps, is quite welcoming to travellers whose vehicles got covered in dirt and dust from the last couple of hundred miles of Quebec 389 which mostly is unpaved. Fortunately for us, it was raining most of the time and the rain cleaned off much of the mud, but we did see a couple of vehicles that missed the rain and had half a centimetre of caked on dirt, including on their hard to reach roofs.
The Welcome Centre had some nice exhibits including this one:
Even though the Welcome Centre had several fully serviced RV spots, we chose to overnight on Tanya Lake where we fortunate to see a pretty rainbow (can you see Sleepy Hollow just to the right of the rainbow?):
and a gorgeous sunset:
Hamilton Falls
On Monday, just before we got to Churchill Falls, we stopped for a quick hike to Hamilton Falls:

Churchill Falls
The only thing we did at Churchill Falls was to drive across dam:
Having taken a tour of the massive MANIC-5 hydro-electic a few days earlier, we did not see a need to view another one so soone.
Trees and Power Lines
We did not take any pictures of the trees that provided most of the scenery on todays drive.
